You want to have fun but at the same time you need to think about so many things! You worry about whether or not you child will be happy. Of course you will worry about the house being turned into hurricane alley. You worry about having the right stuff on hand (like left handed scissors for your left handed kids). The good news is that craft time with your kids does not have to be so stressful. In this article we will talk about how to make crafts time more fun and manageable for everybody.

Don't freak out!!! Craft time means mess time. Crafts that may seem simple enough to contain the mess are often messy crafts too. That is what makes craft time fun. The children will love getting to make a mess and when they are done you'll have a cherished memory. If you stress out about using the exact right amount of glitter or whether or not the glue is going to get spilled, you won't have any fun. The children will see your stress and they won't have a lot of fun either.

Just resolve yourself to the fact that nothing is going to turn out perfectly and there is little you can do about that.

Take it easy and don't try to rush into finishing too fast. Your kids need to do things independently.

Of course, this may mean you'll have to step back and let them do it alone. You might have the feeling of needing to finish the project yourself but you need to resist this urge and let them figure it out. It is important, though, that you let her take her time and do the project herself. It takes longer this way, yes, but your daughter will be so proud of what she made "all by herself"! Be patient. It will make craft time more fun for everybody.

Take care of clothes that are still in good repair. Old, adult sized t-shirts make great smocks and aprons for younger kids. Do your kids have any old pants or shorts they can use only for crafting? Aprons will work for slightly older children. You can find very inexpensive (cheap-cheap) aprons at a craft store and sometimes other stores. This is one thing that is almost a must because kids are just kids when it comes to making a good mess of their clothing. If any of your kids are in fact using left-handed scissors, then if they should cut their shirt it'll be ok. No question, it can be a task getting everything right with crafts and kids. There's a lot to take into consideration. Preparation is the part you want to do and get as right as you can. Be sure to have everything ready such as left-handed scissors for those who may need them. Make sure everyone has enough room to work. Anything extra such as supplies just in case. Make it fun for your kids, especially, and for yourself - everyone needs to relax and have fun.
